FIFA 2018 World Cup Qualification

World Cup Qualifying

The World Cup Qualification process is going to decide which teams are going to face off in the World Cup 2018 in Russia. 32 teams will compete inside this tournament after World Cup Qualifying, however, 1 spot has already been taken by hosting-country Russia. So, This means that 31 spots are yet to be taken by other nations. 210 other countries (FIFA Member States) were able to register their teams, and for the first time ever, everyone signed up. It is a shame that 2 countries were disqualified beforehand, because of outstanding debts to the FIFA (Zimbabwe and Indonesia).

Every continent has its own football federation which will create their own qualifications. Below you can find an image with the names of these Football/soccer Federations.

CAF World Cup Qualifying

The CAF is the executive Committee of Africa. For the World cup Qualifying Africa, they’ll have decided a group procedure which is going to be played in 3 rounds. This is different from last time, when there were still 4 rounds to be played. Eventually 5 teams will be qualified for the World Cup 2018 Russia.

Zimbabwe is one of the 2 countries which were expelled from taking part in this years qualifications. They failed to pay their former coach a severance fee, which led the CAF to disqualify them beforehand. Therefor, only 53 african countries were involved in the draw for the Africa world cup qualifications.
