Dick Advocaat new coach of The Netherlands

Dick Advocaat was appointed as the new coach of the Dutch National team. The Dutch Football Bond (KNVB) anounced that earlier in may. He is the one to fullfill the difficult job of leading Holland to the World Cup 2018 in Russia. His assistent wil become Ruud Gullit, also known for his football career.


According to Dutch bond chairman Hans van Breukelen, only three options were considered: Dick Advocaat, Henk ten Cate or Huub Stevens. Advocaat was appointed on short term to lead the Dutch team onwards. He will only be appointed for the World Cup, after that another coach is appointed.

Netherlands – Luxembourg

Advocaat and Gullit will take charge on the qualification game Netherlands – Luxembourg. They will not start earlier, since Advocaat will have to finish his season first at his current club Fenerbahce. Until then Fred Grim will take charge for the friendly games of the Dutch team.
